Volunteers

The Archibald Lake Association could not be the organization it is without the active support and involvement of our members.  Thank you. There are many opportunities to assist the Association with both social and lake-related projects.

Karla DeWitt Doyle is our new volunteer coordinator.  Please feel free to contact her with any questions you may have about the various volunteer opportunities.

Clean Boats/Clean Waters:  Clean Boats, Clean Waters is a volunteer program that works from our boat landing.  Teams of volunteers help perform boat and trailer checks and provide information to boaters about ways to prevent the spread of Aquatic Invasive Species.  Boat landing monitors typically work three 90 minute sessions during the summer. Training is done during your first session by another volunteer.  Contact Betsy Nock at eanock@granitewave.com or 414-477-1965.

Adopt a Shoreline: Adopt a Shoreline is a volunteer program that involves surveying the lake for the presence of invasive species.  The purpose of the program is to identify invasive species and track their locations on Archibald Lake.  Survey work consists of looking on the shore and in the shallow water for invasive plants and animals (primarily zebra mussels).  Ideally, survey work should be done two or more times per summer.  Training and online resources will be provided.  Please contact Kevin Springob at kspringob@gmail.com or 763-954-1905.

Eurasian Watermilfoil Manual Removal:  Herbicide treatments of individual plants or small colonies of Eurasian watermilfoil are often not successful and can negatively impact surrounding native plants. For smaller colonies and individual plants it is more environmentally sound and financially prudent to manually remove the plants.
For more information please contact Norm Faulstich at alandnorm@gmail.com or 715-850-1777.

Raffle/Adopt-a-Basket:  Each year for our two Fund Raising Raffles, at the Picnic and the Golf Outing, baskets are included to be raffled off.  The "Adopt-a-Basket" idea began a few years ago.  Family groups can take a basket theme and purchase the items to be included in that basket. Some of the basket ideas that we have had included: Christmas, Wine Tasting, Breakfast, Scrapbooking, Children's Fishing, Adult Fishing, Cocktail Hour, Cottage,               and Golf.

Picnic Committees:  We need help with both the Volunteer and Annual picnics.  Please contact Betsy at eanock@granitewave.com or 414-477-1965.

Brat Fries:  Brat and Burger Fries are one of our largest fund raising activities.  They are held at the Lakewood SuperValu.  The dates are listed on the Events page of this website.  If you can help out please contact Tim Counihan at tcounihan@att.net  or 920-337-0549.  Remember that we need customers as well.  Please let your friends and family know that if they are looking for a reasonable & delicious lunch to stop in. And best of all the proceeds go to Archibald Lake.
